The Rio Tinto Hamersley & Rocklea Microgrid Solution project involves the design, engineering, and feasibility report for recommendations for a microgrid solution at Hamersley Homestead and Rocklea Homestead.
Aurum Engineering has been engaged to provide electrical engineering services, focusing on investigating the maximum demand and assessing the feasibility of a primary solar farm and containerised battery storage system with a back-up generator for redundancy and outages during maintenance.
Our scope of work includes:
• Completing maximum demand calculations for each site to determine the size and capacity for the solar array and battery storage solution
• Preparing sketches, layouts, and documentation showing spatial requirements and implementation of the proposed solution, coinciding with the existing arrangements
• Preparing single line diagrams, schematics, and an electrical report with associated design and documentation
• Liaising with RTIO and their preferred suppliers to ensure the proposed solutions align with their specifications and requirements, and consulting for any additional requirements due to new scope
• Detailing any electrical switchboard non-compliances and outlining rectification works required
• Preparing a feasibility report and associated design drawings for the proposed solution(s) to inform RTIO and enable preliminary pricing from vendors/contractors, and providing technical assistance during the pricing process
