The MGM Group (MGM) is a bulk haulage transport group providing limestone quarrying and supply that operates throughout Western Australia. With a workforce of some 300 employees and a core fleet of 20 trucks and some 250 trailer configurations, MGM provides services to mining companies that require bulk haulage, ship loading, rail loading, storage and stockpile management. MGM also operates a range of inhouse quarry facilities.
MGM has been continuously operating a bulk haulage business in Port Hedland since 2015, operating out of a depot in Wedgefield with all management and support functions (including maintenance and administraion). MGM services a number of Pilbara mine site operations from Port Hedland, currently with around 60 quad combinations and nearly 300 staff. Of these, 56 staff, or nearly 20%, are local residents.
To support its expansion workforce, MGM Group developed the MGM Lodge project for the sole purpose of providing accommodation in Port Hedland for its existing and future workforce. The development comprises of:
- 222 ensuited single occupant units
- Laundries
- Dining and drinking hall with alfresco area
- Village administration office and shop
- Fitness and Recreation facility
- Undercover BBQ / outdoor recreational area
- Parking for light vehicles
- Bus pick up / drop off and bus parking area
- Loading Area
- Waste Storage and Collection Area
- On site sewage treatment
Aurum Engineering has been engaged by Grounded. to provide electrical engineering services for the development, including:
- Electrical power supply, reticulation and distribution
- Emergency backup generator system, capable of withstanding cyclonic conditions
- Feature and functional lighting design
- Emergency lighting control systems
- Lighting control systems
- Security, CCTV and access control systems
- Communications backbone infrastructure
- Fire detection and emergency warning systems
